Mauricio Pochettino has raised sbo128 questions over his Tottenham future for the first time, following their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United.
A Dele Alli opener was not enough as goals from Alexis Sanchez and Ander Herrera consigned Spurs to an eighth-straight FA Cup semi-final defeat on Saturday.
The result opened the door for another year of ‘but what have they won?’ criticisms and jibes as a positive and impressive season, curated without a permanent home, ends with tangible success lacking.
Pochettino has always made his long-term commitment vehemently clear in any situation, however, the Argentine showed the first chink in his stance while suggesting that he "or another" could be the one to carry the club forward.
“Tottenham need more time, of course with me or another, but I think it's so important to keep going, focusing on working and developing sbo128 that philosophy which is fantastic for the club,” Pochettino said.
“Of course we are in a process to arrive to the semi-final and be competitive in the Champions League and competitive in the Premier League, fighting for the top four.
“I think it's not enough because everyone feels that we are close, we are close, we are close, but it's still nearly no? Nearly to touch.
“But I think it's the only way to reach this last level, to not only compete but to win,” he continued.
“Of course Tottenham is in the last four years that you follow our process, we are building a very good team, about trying to create the winning mentality, but it is still at the moment not enough.
“But I think Tottenham need to keep going in this direction because it will be perfect, then to create that winning mentality is not about a few years.”
It’s hard to see the former Southampton manager leaving north London this summer, but the first crack in his staunch resolve means we’re certainly set for an interesting few months. sbo128
